Avatar
The Way of Water

A lousy sequel
that offers
nothing new
or of value.

The Woman King

Yet another story
about women
warriors who are
physically and
intellectually
better than
their male peers.

Babylon

A film of classic Hollywood that's beautifully shot
with strong acting
performances
from Brad Pitt and
Margot Robbie.

A Man Called Otto

As always,
Tom Hanks is
excellent as an
old, cantankerous
curmudgeon, but
the scripting of
the suicide
attempts is poorly
written.

Marlowe

As protrayed by
Dick Powell, Humphrey Bogart, James Garner, and Robert Mitchum, this is the classic private dick that started it all. This slowly
paced film is poorly scripted, and bereft of action.

The Menu

The "menu" is horrific killing, not food; and the food is mediocre. For better food-as-horror, see The Cook, the Thief, His Wife & Her Lover. For the absolute best in food preparation see, "Babette's
Feast
."

Plane

Gerard Butler's heroism is only partially subdued
in this engaging
but poorly scripted film. Mike Colter is pleasantly ominous as his presence is
the perfect balance to Butler.

M3GAN

A little girl robot becomes "self aware" and begins
to terrorize, threaten, and kill. It's a perfect film
for the family - not.

Maybe I Do

TBD

You People

The genius
of 1967's
"Guess Who's Coming to Dinner" wasn't entirely lost on 2005's "Guess Who," but this
poorly scripted film reeks of overt pre-1960s racism
and cynicism.

80 for Brady

Four great
actresses
at the top of their
game, with a
script that
ocassionally
sparkles!

Knock at the Cabin

A typical dire
and murky mess
by M. Night
Shyamalan

Sharper

The "con" is on
as cons lie and double-deal on each
other, and then lie and double-deal on each other again, and again . . .

Your Place or Mine

Predictable
romcom script
but excellent
performances by
Witherspoon and
Kutcher

Ant-Man and The Wasp
Quantumania

Predictable
script with
color-by-number
performances by
ensemble cast.

Cocaine Bear

A predictable
and gory mess
featuring stupid
humans.

65

As expected,
film is a special
effects powerhouse
solidly set during
the Jurassic period.

Scream VI

The film franchise
has become a
"standard" for
slasher films, and
although the story
is very predictable,
the performances
shiine.

Moving On

Essentially, this
is a theatrical
version of Fonda
and Tomlin's
"Grace and Frankie"
but without the
husbands.

Shazam!
Fury of the Gods

Extremely
laborious to watch
this juvenile and poorly written
script.

John Wick 4

Lousy script.
Repetitive, non-ending, ridicuous fight scenes that
insult the
intelligence of
anyone competent
in martial arts
or who's
actually shot
a firearm.

Assassin

TBD

Dungeons H& Dragons
Honor Among Thieves

Yet another
fantasy film with more special effects than story.

Murder Mystery

Adam Sandler and Jennifer Aniston make this film fun and the story interesting.

Renfield

Nicholas Holt
shines in his leading role as Renfield, but Nicholas Cage
at his finest and
wonderfully
commands all
the attention.

Chevalier

TBD

Guardians of the Galaxy

Yet another
Marvel pseudo-epic superhero film with more special effects than story.

Book Club

A romcom
featuring four
great actresses
at the top of their
game, with a
script that
ocassionally
sparkles!

Crater

Set in 2257, kids
born on the moon begin a quest
to discover hidden secrets on the moon. Yes, it's formulaic, but with charismatic performances by Isaiah Russell-Bailey, Mckenna Grace, and Billy Barratt.

Knights of the Zodiac

TBD

The Mother

Jennifer Lopez
as a ruthless
assassin, with
the skills and
physical prowess
to beat any man?
Really?

Fast X

It's the same
ole thing, but more
dramatic this
time out.

About My Father

TBD

Nyad

Annette Bening as legendary swimmer Diana Nyad and Jodie Foster as her coach Bonnie Stoll shine in this compelling
docu-drama. Click poster to read full review.
