You do remember, don’t you, Ben Gray’s wife formerly lead the Board of Education for Omaha Public Schools, right?  You do remember, don’t you that John Ewing used to work with former Omaha Chief of Police Thomas Warren as a Deputy Police Chief, don’t you?  You do remember, don’t you, Ewing and his academician and pseudo-entrepreneur wife, Viv, are mutually active in the Empowerment Network, right?  You are aware, aren’t you, Willie Barney used to work for and gained favor at Warren Buffett’s old racist newspaper, the Omaha World-Herald, and that Warren Buffett was a major contributor and supporter when Ben Gray launched his campaign to represent North Omaha’s District 2, right?  You knew all of the aforementioned, right?  Right?  Can you spell i-n-c-e-s-t-u-o-u-s?  

Well, Mayor Stothert initially wanted former councilman Ben Gray to represent North Omaha’s District 2 on the Omaha Land Bank, but many (most?) residents in District 2 who voted Gray out of office, also wanted new representation for District 2 on the Omaha Land Bank.  So, with Ben Gray officially label “persona non grata” what’s Stothert’s big idea?  Drum roll . . . that’s right . . . here it comes . . . the “idea” is to place Chris Rodgers wife, Sharlon, on the Omaha Land Bank! LOL!  Again, can you spell i-n-c-e-s-t-u-o-u-s?  

Why can’t new blood be infused into City of Omaha’s pipeline for appointments and recommendations?  For example, Tiba Brown, who applied to be on the Land Bank back on September 9, 2021 did all the right things: graduated from Randall School of Real Estate; completed Developers Academy; is an active Member of Young Professional Chamber of Commerce; is a member of Commercial Real Estate of Woman in Omaha; is an Omaha Land Bank Ambassador; and is committed to and attends regular meetings.  

Conversely, Sharlon Rodgers started but never completed or acquired a real estate license. Rodgers was “unilaterally” appointed to the Omaha Land Bank Advisory Committee, but has failed to attend regularly scheduled meetings.  Wow!  Sharlon Rodgers has established a truly pathetic example as a potential representative for residents of North Omaha’s District 2.  But who cares, after all, the perpetual nepotism and incestuous relationships of the Empowerment Network blends ever so nicely with Stothert’s insidious allegiance to crony capitalism that has forever ruled both politics and business in Omaha.
