Are Black people stupid?
Part 2: shuckin' and jivin'

This is an update of Part 1, available here.

Surely, you've seen it a zillion times with every election cycle, in a disingenuous attempt to secure the "Black vote," dozens and dozens of politically and financially affluent White politicians stage "photo ops" with selected Black individuals or Black groups previously anoited by White-owned/White-controlled mainstream print and broadcast media as "key influencers of the Black vote."
This practice, which is aggressively used by both Republicans and Democrats, was formerly and accurately called "pandering," but in the current age of "social justice warriors" and "cancel culture," it's been re-branded as being "inclusive."

Presented below is a classic but recent example of the White governor of Nebraska, Pete Ricketts, who surrounded himself with a bunch of Black folks that are not his intimate friends, who don't live in his elite and very exclusive residential neighborhood, people he'd never employ to serve as a member of his cabinet, (unless you're an approved "token"), people he'd never allow to manage his billions, and who, at best, only function as the governor's chocolate (look at me showboating with Black people) "eye candy." Don't hate the messenger.

CLICK THE THOUGHT BALLOONS ABOVE FOR FACTS THAT EXPLAIN WHY SHUCKIN' AND JIVIN' IS NO LAUGHING MATTER

Although the socio-economic status for the overwhelming majority of Black people in Nebraska has not improved under the political administration of Pete Ricketts, nevertheless, as usual, a bunch of Black folks are apparently willing to appear in the above "photo op," wearing a big Cheshire Cat grin, shuckin' and jivin'. According to linguist Barbara Ann Kipfer, the origins of shuckin' and jivin' may be traced to when "black slaves sang and shouted gleefully during corn-shucking season, and this behavior, along with lying and teasing, became a part of the protective and evasive behavior normally adopted toward white people."

Instead of shuckin' and jivin' with Governor Ricketts collectively seeking a handout, why don't these Black people combine their collective intellect, finances, and resourcefulness to create a dynamic Black owned, Black controlled business?

Clearly, do NOT blame White people for the stupidity of Motown Records founder Berry Gordy, and his lack of business acumen and lack of "Blackness" for selling Motown to White people. Do NOT blame White people for the stupidity of Robert L. Johnson, and his lack of business acumen and lack of "Blackness" for selling BET to White people. Do NOT blame White people for Oprah Winfrey's hatred of Black men, her hatred of the traditional Black family and marriage, and her extremely low self-esteem that propelled her to be perennially obese; but question why Winfrey launched the television success of two White men who were already "rich," Dr. Phil McGraw (Dr. Phil) and Dr. Mehmet Cengiz (Dr. Öz), instead of using her media influence to make Black men and Black women multi-millionaires. Do NOT blame White people for Bill Cosby's predilection to satisfy his sexual fantasies instead of using his creative and financial influence to work with other prominent Black people to create a Black-ish version of Disney, TimeWarner, Comcast/NBC/Universal, Sony, etc. Do NOT blame White people because the biggest and wealthiest Black musical artists like Michael Jackson and Prince had a predilection for drugs instead of using their creative and financial influence to work with other prominent Black people to create a Black-ish version of Disney, TimeWarner, Comcast/NBC/Universal, Sony, etc. Do you get it? Stop blaming White people; instead blame Berry Gordy, Oprah, Bob Johnson, Prince, Spike Lee, Michael Jackson, Bill Cosby, Michael Jordan, LeBron James, 50 Cent, Beyoncé, Tiger Woods, Floyd Mayeather, Jr., Jay Z, Tyler Perry, Cathy Hughes, etc.

As robustly documented in the book, "A Separate Cinema: Fifty Years of Black-Cast Posters," concurrent with the dawn of the White film industry, Black people also produced original films, which were produced, directed, edited, distributed by and starring Black people.

These Black produced films with all-Black casts included silent films, talkies, and color films. Just like White films, the genres included westerns, mysteries, dramas, romance, action, comedies, etc. Unlike White films that intentionally limited Black actors and actresses to menial service-oriented roles such as laborers, servants, maids, etc., the stories and roles in Black films mirrorred the self-sufficiency of the Black "segregated" community, which ranged from service to professional, including doctors, lawyers, pilots, newspapermen, politicians, business owners, and civic leaders.

QUESTION: So, why are successful Black stage and film directors, producers, actors, musicians, and music executives unable or unwilling to "pool" their collective creative and financial resources to create a Black owned and controlled theatrical enterprise comparable to Disney, Warner Bros., Columbia Pictures, MGM, etc.?

ANSWER: Instead of directly and collectively building Black businesses and cultural development, far too many Black people remain brainwashed on the Willie Lynch-inspired stupidity of obligatory integration and obligatory assimulation into White culture. Given the aforementioned, the reciprocity of pandering, begging for handouts, and shuckin' and jivin' to politically powerful and financially affluent White people, like Nebraka's Governor Pete Ricketts will define Black people for perpetuity. What? You disagree? Consider the following:

Nothing changes: The Racial Wealth Gap, 1860 - 2020

As researched by Derenoncourt, Chi Hyun Kim, Kuhn, and Schularick in their March 8, 2021 report, “The Racial Wealth Gap, 1860 - 2020,” the wealth gap between Blacks and Whites has never been abated, has only increased significantly; and if present trends in the data continue, the racial wealth gap is headed to a steady state with average White wealth at least five times greater than average Black wealth - even through 2260! Despite being "locked out" of a White owned and controlled film industry for more than a century, and despite being perpetually subservient to a White owned and controlled film industry that has perpetually defined the "image" of Black people, "we're" supposed to believe Black people lack the initiative, intelligence, gusto, or simply refuse to coalesce their economic, policial, and creative wealth to develop, evolve, and sustain their own film industry, really?

When White people make Black people as rich as Oprah Winfrey, or Michael Jordan, or Berry Gordy, or Robert Johnson and so many others, and these rich Black people fail to align themselves to create dynamic business enterprises to uniquely advance the socio-economic status of other Black people, then yes, these Black people are not just Uncle Tom's, egotistical, stingy, and narcissistic, they are also stupid . . . and weak . . . cowards . . . and not deserving of any respect or idolatry.

In "Hollywood" ultimate control has been and continues to be primarily dictated by White Jewish men. As published in the LA Times article, How deeply Jewish is Hollywood? C'mon - "When the studio chiefs took out a full-page ad in the Los Angeles Times a few weeks ago to demand that the Screen Actors Guild settle its contract, the open letter was signed by: News Corp. President Peter Chernin (Jewish), Paramount Pictures Chairman Brad Grey (Jewish), Walt Disney Co. Chief Executive Robert Iger (Jewish), Sony Pictures Chairman Michael Lynton (surprise, Dutch Jew), Warner Bros. Chairman Barry Meyer (Jewish), CBS Corp. Chief Executive Leslie Moonves (so Jewish his great uncle was the first prime minister of Israel), MGM Chairman Harry Sloan (Jewish) and NBC Universal Chief Executive Jeff Zucker (mega-Jewish). If either of the (Jewish) Weinstein brothers had signed, this group would have not only the power to shut down all film production but to form a minyan with enough Fiji water on hand to fill a mikvah." Don't blame White people, especially politically powerful and financially successful White men, for the perpetual "stupidity" of Black people, other minorities, and women to constantly feel-the-need to have White men to validate their creative and technical accomplishments.

"We have the power of numbers, the power of organization, and the power of spirit. Let me explain what I mean. Sixteen million people are a force to be reckoned with, and indeed there are many nations in the U.N. whose numbers are less."

Despite overt discrimination and blatant racism engineered and sustained by politically powerful and financially affluent White people, especially White men, nevertheless, in many segregated communities, there was a time when Black owned and controlled businesses were launched and thrived without any or very little involvement from White people. For example:

Negro Baseball League - Primarly between 1920 and 1950, the league featured Black athletes with athletic abilities equal to or greater than White leagues, and most importantly, the Black league created revenue streams that supported the Black community. Instead of building on this success, Black people progressively abandoned their support of the Negro Baseball League. With regard to being "brainwashed," the overwhelming majority of athletes in the NBA and the NFL are Black, but these Black millionaires are far more "content" to be "owned" by White men than to create their own professional leagues. Tis. Tis. Tis. Gone are the days of being, "Black and Proud."

Motown - The most successful Black owned and controlled music company in U.S. history, created many legendary and wealthy recording artists (Diana Ross, Smokey Robinson, The Temptations, The Jackson 5, etc.) and robust revenue streams that supported many Black communities. Instead, Motown owner Berry Gordy lacked the guts and intelligence to merge with other successful Black entrepreneurs and businesses (Solar, Johnson Publishing, Johnson Products, BET, etc.) to create a Black multimedia giant like TimeWarner, Disney, or UniversalNBC; so he sold Motown to White owned and controlled Universal Music Group.

Black Entertainment Television - The most successful Black owned and controlled cable television network in U.S. history. Sadly, as detailed in #1, #2, and #3 above, BET owner Robert L. Johnson lacked the guts and intelligence to merge with other successful Black entrepreneurs and businesses (Motown, Solar, Johnson Publishing, Johnson Products, etc.) to create a Black multimedia giant like TimeWarner, Disney, or UniversalNBC; so he sold BET to White owned and controlled ViacomCBS.

Softsheen - Black women spend more money on hair care than any other ethnic group of women, and Softsheen was the most successful and largest Black owned and controlled cosmetics company in U.S. history. Sadly, Terri Gardner, the President and CEO of Soft Sheen and daughter of the founders, lacked the guts and intelligence to merge with other successful Black entrepreneurs and businesses to create a Black-owned cosmetics and haircare giant like L'Oréal; so she sold Softsheen to White owned and controlled L'Oréal.

Negro Ensemble Company - Formed in 1967 by Black people to showcase original theatrical works about the Black experience by Black writers such as August Wilson, Suzan-Lori Parks, and others, and featuring great Black actors including Kevin Hooks, Debbie Allen, Adolph Caesar, Louis Gossett, Jr. and so many, many more. So, why are successful Black stage and film directors, producers, and music executives unable or unwilling to "pool" their collective creative and financial resources to create a Black owned and controlled theatrical enterprise comparable to the "Broadway" theatrical experience in New York City?

Integration doesn't mean a
damn thing unless you OWN it!™

Instead of always surrendering ownership and control to White people, especially White males, why don't some smart and wealthy Black people, other minorities, and women flip-the-switch, consolidate their financial resources, and purchase major businesses that are primarily owned and controlled by White people, especially White men? Again, why haven't U.S. based Black billionaires like Oprah Winfrey, Robert L. Johnson, Robert Smith, Michael Jordan, and David Steward joined forces with Black multi-millionaires like Berry Gordy, Magic Johnson, Beyoncé, Jay-Z, Will Smith, Ice Cube, Smokey Robinson, etc., to create a Black multimedia conglomerate like Disney, TimeWarner, ViacomCBS, or Universal/NBC? You know, build a multimedia company from scratch just like three wealthy White Jewish men named Steven Spielberg, Jeffrey Katzenberg and David Geffen successfully created DreamWorks SKG!

So, given the aforementioned, clearly, there are extremely rich Black and African people with expertise in diverse industries; so why don't these rich Black and African billionaires form a multi-national business conglomerate (like Warner Bros. Discovery, Boeing, General Electric, Disney, Sony, General Motors, Panasonic, etc.), or like the Chinese, use their collective wealth and business acumen to purchase Warner Bros. Discovery, or Boeing, or General Electric, or Disney, or Sony, or General Motors, Panasonic, etc.? So, are Black people stupid?

Integration into White society has NOT and will NOT end the perpetual racism and oppression used by White people against Black people.

Muhammad Ali intervied by David Frost in 1974

Clearly, do NOT blame White people for the stupidity of Berry Gordy, and his lack of business acumen and lack of "Blackness" for selling Motown to White people. Do NOT blame White people for the stupidity of Robert Johnson, and his lack of business acumen and lack of "Blackness" for selling BET to White people. Do NOT blame White people for Oprah Winfrey's stupidity and hatred of Black men, her hatred of the traditional Black family and marriage, and her extremely low self-esteem that propelled her to be perennially obese; but question why Winfrey launched the television success of two White men who were already "rich," Dr. Phil McGraw (Dr. Phil) and Dr. Mehmet Cengiz (Dr. Öz), instead of using her media influence to make Black men and Black women multi-millionaires.

It's wrong and stupid to ignore the perpetual existence of systemic racism and system sexism, and it's also wrong to blame every White person for the sins of the past. Likewise, given that White-male conservatives and White-male liberals have always been in exclusive control of the U.S. government and all aspects of business, industry, and public and private education, and that the socio-economic status for the overwhelming majority of Black people and other people of color has not improved under either political paradigm, it's wrong and stupid to champion one extreme as being better than the other.

So, again, don't blame White people, especially White men, for the perpetual "stupidity" of Black people, other minorities, and women to constantly feel-the-need to have politically powerful and financially successful White men to validate their creative and technical accomplishments. Again, don't blame White people, especially White men, for the perpetual "stupidity" of Black people, other minorities, and women to constantly feel-the-need to have White men to validate their creative and technical accomplishments.

In Nebraska, communities throughout the state are encouraged to have "local rule" to determine and govern the boundaries and administration of local school districts except, of course, if you live in a predominately Black or Latino area. In Nebraska, an attempt for "local rule" or self-governance by Black and Latinos was labeled "segregation," but it remains perfectly okay and legal for White people in west Omaha to segregate themselves socially, culturally, and economically from Black people who predominately live in north Omaha, and Latinos who predominately live in south Omaha. Why did the author of LB 641, Nebraska State Senator Ernie Chambers, want "local rule" for Black people and Latinos? Here's why: Since admitted to the Union in 1867, for one-hundred-and-fifty-three-(153) years, White people have consistently been in complete control of all aspects of the education of Black and Latino students (funding, curriculum, hiring of teachers and administrators, location of schools, etc.), and NEVER in the history of the state has the educational performance of Black and Latino students equaled the performance of White students - NEVER. So, after one-hundred-and-fifty-three-(153) years of perpetual failure, what justification is there that White controlled school districts are truly capable of educatiing Black and Latino students? None.

If Black neighborhoods mirrored the same character and scope of educational performance, business success, low unemployment, access to health care, fair and just judiciary, and low incarceration as White areas, well, George Floyd and so many other Black men and women would not be dead.

It's a well-documented practice that the majority of White people pick and chose "if and when" they elect to integrate. Let me be clear, I'm not promoting separatism or isolationalism, which is actively practiced by most White people. Integration has its place and purpose, especially for White people who continue to generate a significantly greater financial benefit from integration than do Black people or other people of color. In order for Black people to dramatically improve "our" socio-economic status, integration and assimulation into White culture should not be an obligatory act; integration should be a consideration, but integration should not be our focus.
