The very first time I heard the sound of his voice, as lead singer for The Montclairs on, "Baby (You Know I'm Gonna Miss You), from just the first words coming out of his mouth, I immediately fell in love with the "voice" of Phil Perry. There was so much power and control and clarity and range and emotional content - and I could tell he was restraing his vocal ability, holding back! Then, after promptly reading the 45rpm label I discovered Phil Perry also wrote many of the songs he sang!! Of course, I promptly began buying all recordings I could find featuring Phil Perry and attending his concerts. His performances with Dave Koz, Lee Ritenour, Quincy Jones, George Duke and so many more talented artists are . . . outstanding! I was hooked for life!!!
